Kingsport City Schools Names Herron Principal of Andrew Johnson Elementary School

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools has announced that Brett Herron has been named the Principal of Andrew Johnson Elementary School.

 
A Kingsport native with 15 years of educational experience, Herron has served in multiple educational roles including classroom teacher, associate principal, and principal. He began his career in Kingsport City Schools as a classroom teacher at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, followed by serving as an associate principal at John Adams Elementary School and John F. Kennedy Elementary School. He has most recently held the position of principal at Anderson Elementary School (Bristol, TN).

“I am so honored and thankful to be the new principal at Andrew Johnson Elementary,” said Herron. “I look forward to working with the amazing families, community, and staff to support our children to not only grow academically, but socially. I also look forward to continuing the long standing tradition of academic excellence at Johnson Elementary.”

Herron holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from East Tennessee State University, a Masters of Education in Elementary Education from Milligan College, and an Educational Specialist Degree from the University of Tennessee.  He is a member of the Tennessee Principals Association, a former recipient of the UT Knoxville Leadership Academy Scholarship, a Coalition for Kids board member, and an East Tennessee State University STEM and Literacy in Education school leader.
 
Kingsport City Schools (KCS) is a public school district located in Kingsport, Tenn., serving students in Sullivan and Hawkins county. The district is comprised of 13 schools, including a Pre-K, eight elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, a high school program of choice, and an alternative learning program; with a total enrollment of over 7,900 students.
