Important TNReady Updates: TN Department of Education Terminates Statewide Assessment Contract

Dear KCS Families and Staff,

As some major changes were announced today by the Tennessee Department of Education, we wanted to provide you an update on the status of TNReady testing.

Due to continual and ongoing delays with the shipment of testing materials across Tennessee, TDOE Commissioner Candice McQueen has announced today that Part II of the TNReady and TCAP testing for grades 3-8 has been suspended for this year. Statewide, over 2 million pieces of testing materials have yet to be shipped to school districts, and the state has lost confidence that the assessment vendor Measurement Incorporated will be able to fulfill their commitment to do so. In fact, the state has immediately terminated its contract with Measurement Incorporated, and is seeking a new vendor for future testing.

So how will this affect testing in KCS? Students in grades 3-8 will not take their TNReady assessments this year, with the exception of middle school Algebra I and Geometry EOCs in grades 7-8. Those materials have been received and those assessments will take place on Tuesday, May 3.

For our high school students, all of the high school materials have arrived. Part II testing for high school students will begin on the regularly scheduled date of Monday, May 2.
