You are invited to a Ribbon Cutting ceremony to showcase the new community-built Castle of Kingsport playground on March 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.

All are invited to The Castle Playground and take their final photo (between now and the night of Thursday, December 20, 2018) at the iconic wooden play structure located on Johnson Elementary School property, before it will be demolished and replaced.

Construction on the new Castle Playground will take place March 5-10. Dec. 19, 2018 was a very special and bittersweet day as the last student body photo was taken at the 29 year old original Johnson Elementary School "Castle Playground."

Three Kingsport City Schools elementary schools have been named among Tennessee’s best schools, announced as 2018 Reward Schools today by the Tennessee Department of Education.

The 2017 district-level Teachers of the Year award winners are Todd Wagner (grades Pre-K–4), Marsha Buck (grades 5–8), and Joanna Nash (grades 9–12).
